      Putting a Price on Biodiversity Loss: A Petri Dish Conversation

      Drones, satellites and other new technologies allow measurements of biodiversity as never seen before. Can better measurement of biodiversity along with better science linking biodiversity conservation to quality of life be used to slow or halt biodiversity loss? We'll explore the new opportunities that scientific advances are generating along with the political and economic challenges to addressing biodiversity loss.  Panelists include: Jeannine Cavender-Bares, Professor, Ecology, Evolution and Behavior and Coordinating Lead Author of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Americas Assessment.  Stephen Polasky, Regents Professor and Fesler-Lampert Professor of Ecological/Environmental Economics Patrick Hamilton, Director of Global Initiatives, Science Museum of Minnesota Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Program starts at 7 p.m.  Light appetizers provided. Cash bar. In collaboration with the Bell Museum.
