Event prepping for ski season is fun! Enjoy activities and great gear deals at a pre-winter celebration:

Weekends —Friday, Oct. 5 through Sunday, Oct. 14.

WHAT: It’s time to get excited for the 2018-19 ski season at Afton Alps Family Fall Fair and Slopeside Swap, one of the Midwest’s largest ski and snowboard swaps. This is the perfect place to upgrade your equipment and prepare for the upcoming winter season. You can exchange or sell your used gear and find great deals on season passes as well as thousands of new and used winter sports items like skis, snowboards, poles, boots, goggles and clothing on big-time sale. Plus, this is perfect the time to score deals on Afton Alps Ski and Ride School programs and season passes including the Epic Pass. The Epic Pass grants skiers and snowboarders unlimited access to Afton Alps and 18 mountain resorts plus additional access to 46 more, including 20 new mountains for the 2018-19 season. This is also the time to get information on leagues and employment opportunities.

Afton Alps will also host family activities including free chair lift rides, hayrides, a bouncy house, pumpkin painting, live music, a food truck and other refreshments each weekend. Visitors can also enjoy Minnesota’s only slope-side movie screenings starting at dusk on Friday, Oct. 5.

WHY: Even though Afton Alps is synonymous with winter in these parts, the Afton Alps Family Fall Fair and Slopeside Swap is one of the most fun fall celebrations around! Plus, it’s a great way to get your family prepared for (or introduced to) the upcoming ski season in one fell swoop.

WHAT ELSE: Reclaim your ski bunny status, or own it for the first time!

Introducing “Bunny Hill Basics!” a brand new opportunity to give skiing a try. Bunny Hill Basics runs on Thursdays, beginning Dec 6. Come when you can and stay as long as you want. $39 includes lift ticket for lift 4, lesson and equipment rental.

Afton Alps “I Will Ski” and “I Will Ride” programs are specially designed for first-time adult skiers or those ready to get back into the sport after a long break. Each course is only $379 and includes four classes plus lift tickets. Participants will also receive a FREE pair of Elan Skis (a $700 value) and bindings or a new Burton Snowboard and will be treated to a big party at the conclusion of the program. (Will this deal sell out? Give you one guess.).

Afton Alps and Vail Resorts encourage us all to enjoy a great ski adventure this winter because skiing can be a lifelong sport. “I Will Ski” and “I Will Ride” programs deliver first-timers and back-at-its the confidence and skills to enjoy Afton Alps and gear up for a mountain experience at one of Vail Resorts’ world class destinations.

Bring your dog! Afton Alps is offering a doggie ski pass for a $10 donation to Second Hand Hounds. It won’t get your dog a ride on the chairlift, but it’s a fun keepsake for a great cause. Just bring your pup to Guest Services during Fall Fair hours.
