Restoration Worknight in the Rare Prairie

With its tall grass and wildflowers, the Sand Coulee offers a different kind of beauty. While not your average park visitor's destination, this protected area is no less than an oasis in a desert of habitat for the 14 rare animal and plant species that call it home. On this summer evening, volunteers will learn to identify and help halt the spread of spotted knapweed. All gloves, tools and guidance will be provided. Less than 1 percent of our native prairie remains. Help protect this piece of it with ecologists from Friends of the Mississippi River! Space is limited, preregistration is required. Please register with FMR Program Assistant Katie Clower at or 651-222-2193 x23.
